Sprague Qualifies in 28th place for
Daytona 500
DAYTONA BEACH, FL.(February 10)-- Jack Sprague
guided the No. 0 NetZero Pontiac to 28th place in qualifying Monday for the
Daytona 500. The No. 0 Grand Prix averaged 183.400 mph in the two qualifying
laps with top lap time of 49.073 seconds on the 2.5-mile tri-oval at Daytona
International Speedway. Jeff Green captured the pole position with a top
speed of 186.606 mph.
Sprague and the Haas CNC Racing team will take to
the track later this week in one of the Gatorade 125 mile qualifying races.
On Thursday, February 13, there will be two 50-lap races where the top-15
finishers in each race qualify for the Daytona 500. The remaining spots in
the field are determined by Monday's qualifying speeds.
"It's a good start for us but I know there's more
left in the car," said Joe Custer, general manager of Haas CNC Racing.
"There are a lot of good drivers behind us and we are in good position for
the 125 on Thursday."
The Gatorade 125s are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. EST
while the Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, February 16 at 12:00 p.m.
