"I always look forward to racing at Richmond. It’s a great track
a good example of what short-track racing is all about. I had the pole for
the Busch
Series race there last spring and, hopefully, that will help us this time
around in a Cup car. We’d like to go out there and run competitively
with the leaders come race time. We don’t expect miracles right now.
Honestly, this Richmond car is the last of the NetZero Pontiacs that need to
be worked on to
make the bodies better, so if we can go out there and get a good qualifying
spot and then go out and get a Top-20 finish, we would probably be satisfied
with
that. I never thought I would be satisfied with a Top-20, but right now,
we’d
take it. I know there are better days in the future and maybe Richmond can
be the start.”
SPRAGUE ON THE WORK TO BE DONE…
"We’ve definitely picked up our qualifying program. Tony Furr and
the NetZero HiSpeed crew have worked hard to make sure that we’re competitive
right off the truck in the last couple of races. That’s something we
were missing in the early part of the season. In the last two races, we’ve
qualified 14th at Martinsville and 12th in Fontana. That’s something
to be proud of and shows we’re headed in the right direction. Now we
need to get to work on our race package. Our cars have been off, and that’s
the main thing that Tony and the guys back at the shop have worked on. I’m
looking forward to the race in Charlotte in a couple of weeks, because I
think that’s when people will really start to see the changes this
team has been working so hard on.”
