Jack Sprague on the Pocono 500
" I've never raced at Pocono, never even seen the place before we got here
for the test last week, but we had a pretty good test. I think we'll be in pretty
good shape when we get to the track because Tony [Furr, crew chief] has been
successful just about everywhere we go and that certainly helps in situations
like this. To me, it's like three different race tracks in one. I think it's
a blast. Plus, we're coming off a couple of pretty good runs without the results
to show for it. We need to keep the momentum going. Hopefully, we can get in
a decent qualifying run and put together a good finish too."
SPRAGUE ON IMPROVEMENT…
"
Last week at Dover was a heartbreaker. We had problems in qualifying and had
worked our way to the front by midway through the race. We were a little tight,
but we kept making adjustments to the NetZero Pontiac and it got better and
better. The pit stops were great; we either held our position or picked up
spots on pit road. I think we had a Top-5 car, and the car we ran in Charlotte
was great the week before too, so I feel like we've made real progress over
the past couple of weeks. The cars are a lot better, the communication between
Tony and I is really good and the pit crew has really stepped up the program.
When you can get everything working together like that, it's fun to go to the
track. It had been kind of tough before when everything seemed to be going
in the wrong direction, but even though the finishes haven't been what they
should have been for the past couple of weeks, I think this is almost like
a completely new team. It's definitely a new beginning for us and we hope we
can keep improving every aspect of this Haas CNC Racing team and keep getting
even better every week."
