With Sponsorship Available, Sprague
Gets Head Start on 2004
MOORESVILLE, N.C. - Three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion Jack
Sprague will get a head start on next season, with a start in the Las Vegas
350K race next Saturday night. He will drive the No. 11 IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet,
joining Travis Kvapil in the Xpress Motorsports stable.
"We're very excited that Jack is in our second truck," said team
manager Dave Fuge. "There are a couple of reasons that we want to get
Jack behind the wheel and racing.
"Primarily, we want people to know that sponsorship on Jack's truck is
available for next season. A three-time champion with the defending championship
team is a strong package for a sponsor.
"Secondly, we need to start getting a team built for Jack. This will
allow us to look at some people and start to put a second championship-caliber
group together."
Sprague has won twice at the 1.5-mile speedway. In fact, in five starts at
the track, he has two wins (1996 and 1998) and three second-place finishes
(1997, 1999 and 2001).
"I love racing at Las Vegas," said Sprague. "I don't know what
it is about the track, but I've always ran well there. I guess with three second-place
finishes and two wins, I'd better go out there and try to even the score up
with a third win."
Following the Las Vegas race, the team plans on fielding a truck at Texas
and Homestead-Miami for Sprague, a 23-time series winner.
