Chevy Trucks Silverado Driver Jack
Sprague Sets Winning Mark in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Richmond, VA – September 8, 2004 – Jack Sprague behind the wheel
of the No. 16 Chevy Trucks Silverado set the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
(NCTS) all-time winnings record of $5,002,679 with his eighth place finish
in the Kroger 200 at Richmond International Raceway.
Sprague, the only three-time series champion, also holds the record for the
most top-five and top-ten finishes in NCTS competition as well as lead-lap
finishes.
“This is pretty amazing,” said Sprague. “I have always
loved the Truck Series. It is the best racing around in my opinion. I am glad
to be back here racing the Chevy Trucks Silverado. This series has given me
the best opportunity of my career, I think it is the best place to race.”
After qualifying fifth and starting from the inside row three in race 17
of the 25 race NCTS 2004 season, Sprague scored his eighth top-ten finish of
the 2004 season and the 143rd of his career in 189 starts.
“We started out just way too tight in the center,” Sprague explained. “My
Chevy Trucks guys made some huge adjustments and we salvaged an ok finish out
of it. I just didn’t have enough forward grip coming off and I had to
make sure I was gentle on the throttle not to spin the rear tires and let the
backend get away from me. We just didn’t have the best night we could
have had tonight but my guys never gave up and we will head on to New Hampshire.”
The next event for the No. 16 Chevy Trucks Silverado team is the New Hampshire
200 at New Hampshire International Speedway on September 18, 2004. Live television
coverage will be provided by SPEED TV. MRN and XM Satellite Radio will broadcast
the action live over the airwaves. The 200-lap race is scheduled to start at
1:00 PM EDT.
