Jack On Texas:
“Texas is a good track for me. I have always run good
at Texas and won twice there – which gives me a lot
of confidence heading there. We are coming off a strong run
last week at Atlanta where we just missed collecting the first
win for Wyler Racing. Tony Furr (crew chief) and the guys
on this Wyler Racing crew have given me awesome trucks my
first two races with them and I know we will have the same
this week. We were going to bring our Atlanta truck this week
but it got heavily damaged in that last lap wreck last week
– so we are bringing a new truck this week. They say
it is better than the truck we ran last week and that is very
exciting – because we had our Toyota hooked up real
well last week. I won in Texas earlier this year and to sweep
the two races there and get that win for the team would be
awesome.”
Last Week’s Victory Slips Away:
In only his second start with Wyler Racing and Toyota, Jack
Sprague was poised and in position to bring home his 26th
career win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. However,
a dramatic finish on the last turn of the last lap relegated
the three-time series champion to a fourth place finish in
the running of the Easy Care Vehicle Service Contracts 200
at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“We simply got beat by tires and a badly timed caution
today,” said Jack. “We had a dominant truck all
day and there in the second half of the race no one could
keep up with us and I thought for sure I was going to win
in only my second race in a Toyota. We had a pretty good sized
lead there with less than ten laps to go and the caution came
out – not sure what it was for. A few guys came in and
gave up track position to get tires and that proved to be
the difference. My No. 60 Toyota was just awesome today –
this Wyler Racing team gave me a great handling truck and
it was driving really well – which was a lot of fun.”
Jack On Last Three Races Of Season:
“This is an exciting time for me. I am excited about
this opportunity with Wyler Racing and Toyota Motorsports.
We have had fast trucks my first two races here and that is
an awesome feeling. We just missed winning Atlanta last week
and we dominated the second half of the race before an untimely
caution ruined it for us. These last three races will be fun
as I expect us to continue to run very well – probably
even better than we have these first two races. I think we
have a very good chance of winning a race before the season
is over – who knows we may do better than that.”
Notes:
- Jack will be making his 220th career start in the Craftsman
Truck Series this week.
- Jack will be making his third start for his new team –
Wyler Racing – and Toyota Motorsports.
- Jack has one win to his credit so far this season (Texas)
and has collected one pole as well (Milwaukee).
