Sprague Grinds Out 6th in Texas

“Driver Moves Back Into Top-10 In Points”

FORT WORTH, TX (November 7, 2005) – Jack Sprague headed into the Lone Star state this past weekend looking to repeat his victory earlier this season at the 1.5-mile facility. He left without that second win but did accomplish steering his No. 60 Wyler Racing Toyota to a sixth place finish in the running of the Silverado 350K at the Texas Motor Speedway.

“We really struggled all weekend with the handling on our Tundra but we hung tough as a team and come out of here with a solid finish,” said Sprague. “Our truck took about ten laps for it to come in during the race and once it did we turned some pretty good laps. We fought being tight all night and we just could not seem to really make it any better with the changes we made. However, we just stayed after it and stayed competitive out there.”

Sprague and his Wyler Racing team struggled during the two practice session leading up to qualifying on Thursday. Without making a mock-qualifying run during practice, Jack would qualify in the 23rd spot for the 147-lap event on Friday night.

The No. 60 Toyota would move forward in the field at the drop of the green flag and would be running inside the top-15 by lap 20. Sprague would come down pit road for the first time on lap 40 for fuel and four fresh tires with an air pressure adjustment to combat a “snug” condition. The middle section of the race would see Jack radio back to the Wyler Racing crew that he was still pretty tight. However, the No. 60 Tundra would turn some very fast laps as its driver adjusted his line around the track.

Sprague would pit for the second time on lap 61 where the crew would pull out a spring rubber in an effort to free up their Toyota Tundra. Restarting in the 18th spot, Jack would move his way up to the 12th spot before pitting for the last time on lap 86. The last portion of the race would see Sprague and the No. 60 Toyota slowly pick off spots and crack into the top-10 at the lap 100 mark. Although he radioed to his crew that his truck was very tight, Jack would continue to pass trucks until he sat in the sixth position at the checkered flag.

“We just battled out there tonight and were able to get another solid finish in for our Wyler Racing Toyota,” said Jack. “We battled with some track position issues tonight as we got blocked in our pits twice tonight by the truck pitting in front of us – we may have been able to finish a few spots better if that had not happened. It was a good point’s night and another solid run for me and this team to work with.”

The sixth place finish moved Sprague up into the ninth spot in the overall driver’s standings and only 50 points out of the seventh position.

Jack and the Wyler Racing team will next head to the Phoenix International Raceway for the running of the Chevy Silverado 150 this Friday night.
