Great Expectations for Wyler Racing in '06
"Three-Time Champion Jack Sprague Plans Run For the
2006 NCTS Championship"
MOORESVILE, NC (December 6, 2005) - Since their arrival on
the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series scene at the Milwaukee Mile
this past June, Wyler Racing has demonstrated its ability
to be a force in the series which has resulted in some great
expectations for the 2006 season.
By their 11th race in the series, the No. 60 Jeff Wyler Toyota
Tundra team had three-time Series Champion Jack Sprague behind
the wheel. In the remaining five races with his new team,
Sprague brought home two top-5 finishes and three top-10 finishes.
He had near miss wins at both Atlanta and the season finale
in Homestead. All impressive accomplishments for a team that
started with nothing towards the end of June.
"It is really incredible when you look back at what we have
built here in such a short time," stated team owner Jeff Wyler.
"We put this team together in only a matter of days before
going to Milwaukee for our debut. Then as we continued to
race the remaining events we built the team as we went along.
For the first three races we took only one truck to the track
and had to qualify on time since we were not in the top-30
in points. We managed to successfully build the team while
also putting up some productive performances on the track.
I am proud of what we have been able to do to this point and
it is a great testament to Tony Furr (crew chief) and all
the guys on this team. The support we have received from Toyota
has also been such a tremendous asset to this organization."
In total, Wyler Racing competed in 15 races during the 2005
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season with a season best second-place
finish in the finale at Homestead. The team also led a total
of 78 laps of competition with 45 of those coming during a
dominant performance late in the season at Atlanta which was
spoiled by a last turn accident while Sprague was leading
the race. In all the team accomplished three top-5, 6 top-10
and 9 top-20 finishes.
"This team is really amazing - we have all the key pieces
in place," said Jack Sprague. "Between the trucks Toyota supplies
us with, Tony Furr, all the guys on the team and the support
from the Wyler's - I know we have a real good chance of taking
home that (Championship) trophy next year. I'm really proud
to be associated with Jeff and David Wyler. They are incredible
owners and they have given us one great organization to utilize.
This team has built up a lot of momentum in only a few races
this past year and we plan on keeping that going. I'm ready
to bring home my fourth championship and a first for both
the Wyler's and Toyota."
"We are extremely excited about the potential of this team,"
added Wyler. "Tony (Furr, crew chief) and the guys on this
team have done a fantastic job putting this all together.
With Jack (Sprague) behind the wheel, we have put all the
key ingredients of a successful season together. It's been
great working with Jack these past five races. He has built
up a great rapport with the team and we are really looking
forward to taking him to Daytona. We have great expectations
for 2006."
Wyler Racing hopes to have a full-time sponsor for the No.60
Tundra in place before testing on January 13th and 14th at
the Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the
2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season opener at the "World
Center of Racing".
