Sprague On Racing at Talladega Superspeedway:

“I think it will be a great race. I don’t think the new pavement is going to play a huge factor in what happens on the track. Talladega is like Daytona – it’s a survival deal. The key is for everybody to mind their p’s and q’s and not get stupid out there. You have to patient to be around at the end and still have a chance to win the race.

“I think since it was announced that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series was coming to Talladega everyone has been excited about it. The trucks put on some of the best racing in all of NASCAR, and I think Talladega will be no exception. I can see the trucks being four wide most of the day. The Con-way Freight team will just have to be cool so that we can be around at the end of the day and go for it. Talladega’s a gamble. You just never know what you are going to get, but you have to be around at the end if you want a shot at victory lane.

“As far as our strategy, I don’t know what it is yet. We’ll decide that on race day. The past couple of years at Daytona, I’ve just kind of hung around in a safe place throughout the course of the race. I haven’t been up there fighting for position at the beginning of the race. I’ve just tried to be patient and bide my time. It worked for me this year. I finished fifth at Daytona, and I had a shot to win. I was just patient, and I didn’t push the issue until it was time. That’s what we’ll have to do at Talladega to win.

“Going to Talladega is great for the sport, it’s great for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and it is going to be a great race for the fans. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Career at Talladega Superspeedway:

Like many of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers here this weekend, Sprague has logged lap after lap in truck testing sessions at Talladega. But Sprague also has some race experience at the 2.66-mile tri-oval. Sprague has three Busch starts and one Cup start to his credit.

With Six Races To Go, Sprague Talks Goals:

With six races remaining in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Jack Sprague and the Wyler Racing team are ninth in the point’s standings. Sprague is 432 points behind championship point leader Todd Bodine. He is just 111 points out of the top five and 192 points out of the top three.

“We’ve got to get in the top five and stay in the top five, which is something this Wyler Racing team is capable of doing. We’re ninth now, but we’re only 111 points out of fifth place, so it can be done. We can move into the top three. We’re not having the best of luck right now though. Hopefully, we can shake the bad luck at Talladega and turn our season around and go from there. I believe this team can still win several races this year, and if we get on a roll, who knows what might happen. That being said though, I’m really excited about the end of this year and going after my fourth championship next season.”
