Sprague and Con-way Freight Celebrate With Fourth Place Finish in Texas

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (November 6, 2006) - With just three races remaining in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, Jack Sprague and the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota team have one goal in mind – to finish strong each and every week.

And after announcing this week at Texas Motor Speedway that Con-way Freight, Wyler Racing and three time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Jack Sprague will be back together again in 2007, Sprague and the team had even more incentive to score a top finish.

“I’m having more fun in my career than ever before,” Sprague said. “This team is awesome, and I’m so proud of what we have accomplished in just one season together.

“We got another top-five this weekend at Texas, and we would like to do the same thing in the final two races of the season to go out strong. That will give us some extra momentum as we go after the championship in 2007.”

            Sprague and the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota team started in the 16th-place for the Silverado 350K at Texas Motor Speedway. The Wyler Racing team would have their work cut out for them to get up front, but with Sprague’s impressive record at the 1.5-mile race track – the team was confident that a solid finish was in their grasp.

            At the drop of the green flag, Sprague initially lost one spot. But by Lap 10, Sprague quickly regained control of the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota, and he began picking up spots. By Lap 23, Sprague had moved up to 13th spot, and he reported to his team that they didn’t have enough side bite.

            When the second caution of the event waved at Lap 44, Sprague had moved into the top 10 for the first time of the day. Sprague told his crew that the truck was tight in the center. With the caution out, Sprague brought his truck to the attention of his pit crew.

            The crew went to work making a wedge adjustment and an air pressure adjustment to the truck. The team also changed four tires and added fuel. A quick pit stop by the Con-way crew helped Sprague to pick up three spots in the pits and return to the track in seventh place for the race’s restart at Lap 49.

            Sprague held his spot on the race track – swapping the seventh and eighth spot – numerous times over the course of the 40 laps. Despite having a top-10 truck, Sprague was unable to make up ground on the race track.

            When the caution flag waved at Lap 92, Sprague turned to his pit crew to help him gain some spots. Sprague pitted for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment. The pit crew’s fast work again helped the No. 60 truck to gain three spots as Sprague returned to the race track in fourth place for the restart at Lap 100.

            With 47 laps remaining in the race, Sprague was poised to make a run at another Texas win. Despite some daring passes and three wide moves, Sprague didn’t have the truck to pass the top three. Sprague brought the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota home in fourth place – the Wyler Racing team’s ninth top-five of the season.

            “It was a good points day for us, and it could have been better but we just couldn’t get enough grip,” Sprague said. “The pit crew did an incredible job for me today. We picked up positions every time we pitted, and that was the key to this top five. We were close today, but we weren’t good enough. Hopefully, we’ll come out on top in one of these next two races.”

            With two races remaining, Sprague is in eighth spot in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point’s standings 379 points behind leader Todd Bodine and 43 points out of fifth spot.
