Sprague Takes 28th after Lap One Mess at “The Monster Mile”

Dover, Del. (June 4, 2007) – Coming off a second-place run at Mansfield Motorsports Park last week, Jack Sprague and the Wyler Racing team were excited about entering Dover, Delaware for Friday afternoon’s running of the AAA Insurance 200, but “The Monster Mile” lived up to its name after a first-lap wreck cost the team a repeat performance when the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota was taken out in a multi-truck wreck at the start of the 100-lap race.

Sprague started in seventh position for the AAA Insurance 200, but before he could get his No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota up to speed, the leaders tangled coming off of turn two causing a multi-truck wreck which took out nine competitors.  Sprague was uninjured in the wreck, but his Con-way Freight Toyota wasn’t so lucky.

“That truck is torn up,” explained Sprague.  “It’s beat up.  It’s bent up.  It’s got the front snout knocked off of it.”   Even though his Toyota suffered severe damage in the melee, the Con-way Freight crew rallied together and got Sprague back out on track after over an hour and a half in the garage for repairs.

“I have no unearthly idea what happened,” said Sprague following the race.  “I saw nothing except the 77 on my hood.  It’s unbelievable.  These guys get paid a lot of money to drive these things and you can’t even make it a half of a lap.  The two involved in it are way better than that.”

Sprague’s crew made their money as they came together like the Championship contenders that they are to get the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota back on track in record time.  “The guys did a great job to get it fixed good enough to where I could run fast enough to make minimum speed,” explained Sprague.  “I didn’t think I would be able too.  We were just hoping to gain a few spots and we ended up gaining seven.”

Despite their hard work, Sprague slid two spots to 8th in the Championship Point Standings.  “The guys are doing a great job.  I’ve got great trucks and we’re fast so we’ll just keep plugging along, I suppose,” said Sprague.  “None of us gave up.  That’s the name of the game.  They worked really hard.  We gained seven spots and that’s what we needed to do.”

Sprague and the Wyler Racing team will take the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra to Texas Motor Speedway for the running of the Sam’s Town 400 on Friday, June 8th, 2007.  Live television coverage will be provided by SPEED at 8:30 p.m. ET with radio coverage coming to you live from MRN Radio.
