Jack Sprague – No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra Silverado 350K Race Preview
Jack Sprague on Racing at Texas Motor Speedway:
“Texas is a good track for me. I have always run good at Texas and I’ve won there twice which gives me a lot of confidence every time that I race there. Texas is a track where you need a lot of horsepower under the hood and we have that with our Toyota motors. You also have to handle well which should be a non-issue this weekend. I’m looking forward to racing in Texas again and hopefully we’ll be able to get a good finish for Con-way, Bicycle, ACL, and everyone involved with this team.”
Wyler Racing Names Rick Gay Crew Chief:
Wyler Racing named Rochester, New York native Rick Gay as Crew Chief of the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota before heading to Atlanta last week. “We are taking the necessary steps to prepare our team for a Championship run in the Craftsman Truck Series next year,” said Team Owner, Jeff Wyler. Gay joins Wyler Racing after working as Crew Chief for the No. 9 Toyota Tundra of Germain Racing. Under Gay’s leadership, Germain Racing scored six top-five and 13 top-10 finishes in 21 starts this year. Prior to joining Germain Racing in August of 2006, Gay served as Crew Chief for ppc Racing with driver’s Terry Cook and Kenny Wallace, working in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Busch Series.
Jack Sprague Signs the Courtyard:
The Courtyard Fort Worth Downtown/Blackstone has signed on as “The Official Hotel of Wyler Racing” this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. This historical hotel is located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth. Conveniently located on the edge of Sundance Square, the hotel is a short walk to Bass Hall and the Convention Center, and a quick drive to the Fort Worth Stockyards. For reservations, call (817) 885-8700.
Wyler Announces Merger for 2008 NASCAR Season:
Jeff Wyler and Michael Gaughan jointly announced Monday the formation of Wyler-Gaughan Racing, LLC (WGR), which will field two full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) teams and will run a partial NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) team during the 2008 season. WGR will field the No. 77 Toyota Tundra with driver Brendan Gaughan and the No. 60 Toyota Tundra. The driver of the No. 60 Toyota Tundra and sponsors for both teams will be announced at a later date. Gaughan will also be behind the wheel of the team’s Toyota Camry in at least six Sprint Cup races. “We have watched with great interest the recent partnerships that have formed in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup garage, and we believe that this is the wave of the future,” Wyler said. “To have a competitive race team at any level in NASCAR, it is crucial to have an almost endless supply of resources available to your team. By combining our efforts, we now have double the talent and double the resources. Our two trucks will work as one team and have the common goal of winning. By merging our teams together and forming WGR, we believe that we will be one step ahead when we make our move into the Sprint Cup Series in the coming years.”
Sprague’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Career Stats at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS):
Jack Sprague has raced in all three of NASCAR’s top-tier divisions at TMS and has amassed 18 starts, over 2,505 laps, two wins, eight top-five and ten top-10 finishes there over the course of his career. Sprague has led 216 laps at TMS in a Craftsman Truck Series ride and led 67 laps at TMS while driving a NASCAR Busch Series car for legendary team owner, Rick Hendrick. Even though Sprague has led a lot of laps at TMS, he hopes to lead just one lap this weekend in the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota - the final one.
