Jack Sprague No. 2 American Commercial Lines Team Race Preview NASCAR Truck Series Race 7 of 25 — Mansfield (Ohio) Motorsports Park

A WALK IN THE PARK: Three-time Truck Series champion, Jack Sprague, has the best record of any Truck Series driver at Mansfield (Ohio) Motorsports Park (MMP). In 2004, Sprague started on the pole, led 139 laps on his way to winning the inaugural race at MMP. Sprague has an average finishing position of 1.8, never ending a race at MMP worse than second.

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY: Even though Sprague won the inaugural race at MMP in 2004, he has not visited victory lane at MMP since.  Last season he missed the victory by 0.522 seconds when eventual winner Dennis Setzer completed the race on only one pit stop.

SHORT TRACK ACE: Sprague is the only driver to have wins on all five short tracks (Martinsville Speedway, Mansfield Motorsports Park, Memphis Motorsports Park, O’Reilly Raceway Park and Bristol Motor Speedway) on the current schedule.

Jack Sprague Quotes:

MANSFIELD MOTORSPORTS PARK HAS BEEN A GREAT VENUE FOR YOU THE PAST FOUR YEARS, WHAT MAKES YOU SO COMPETITIVE THERE?

“To be honest I have no idea.  Mansfield is a short track just like I grew up on.  I have the most experience with these types of tracks and I am most comfortable racing at these venues.  A lot of my success can be attributed to pit strategy. We have always had great pit stops and been able to make the right calls when it came to Mansfield.”

HOW CRITICAL IS QUALIFYING UP FRONT AT MANSFIELD? “Qualifying is very critical here.  This place is so small and passing is so tough that a good qualifying effort can set you up to have a great day.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The KHI No. 2 ACL team will bring chassis No. 021 to Mansfield Motorsports Park. Chassis No. 021 set a new track record and sat on the pole at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway earlier this season.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Sprague recorded a 14th-place finish last week at Lowe’s (N.C.) Motor Speedway, his career best finishing effort at that venue.  Starting third, Sprague looked to be a factor mid-way through the race as he and the KHI No.2 ACL team battled a tight -handling race truck.  Running third on the restart at lap 100 Sprague was forced into the outside wall as he tried to avoid an incident with race leader Kyle Busch and Ron Hornaday.  Narrowly missing both trucks, Sprague scraped the wall and severely damaging the truck’s tow.  Despite the No. 2 team’s best efforts to fix the truck, Sprague crossed the finish line in the 14th position.
