Lap One Incident Relegates Sprague to 30th-Place Finish

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 16, 2008) --- Jack Sprague and the No. 2 RVs.com Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Chevrolet team started the Cool City Custom’s 200 from the second position, but contact on lap one led Sprague to a 30th-place finish.

“Our run today was a disappointment,” Sprague said. “There really was nothing we could do. We were in the wrong place at the wrong time.  It’s a shame since we probably had the truck to beat but were taken out on lap one and did not have the chance to find out.”

Missing the pole by one one-thousandth of a second, Sprague and team began from the second position.  As the green flag dropped, Sprague nearly had the pole sitter Mike Skinner cleared going into turn two when suddenly Skinner became loose on the bottom of the track and slide up into Sprague.  Skinner’s exhaust pipe made contact with Sprague’s left-rear tire resulting in a flat. The team immediately brought Sprague down pit road on lap two and replaced the tire. Making three more pit stops under the initial caution to fix body damage, Sprague restarted the race on lap six, one lap down.

Once back on track, Sprague realized the damage was worse than originally thought.  The flat tire had knocked a brake line off of the caliper. On lap eight, the team was forced to bring the truck back down pit road under green to replace the brake line. The extended stop resulted in the No. 2 team losing a total of eight laps. Sprague returned to competition on lap 16 in 32nd position. Sprague fought a loose-handling truck and was able to move up two spots to finish the race in 30th position.
